AOI Seicha has its origins in Nishio, Aichi prefecture, a renowned region for producing the finest matcha for over 800 years. Established in the early Taisho era by Honda Yasutaro, the company began as a reclaimed tea plantation, evolving into a leader in Nishio tea under the guidance of the Honda family. Aoi Seicha’s symbol, the hollyhock crest, reflects its ties to the prominent Honda samurai clan and their connection to the Tokugawa Shogunate. With a legacy of innovation and excellence, including automation in the 1930s and accolades like the 1955 National Tea Competition win, AOI Seicha has solidified its reputation as a global name in premium matcha production.
